Convention Countdown

[Current Song // Bloc Party - This Modern Love]

Every year I seem to attend more and more anime conventions.  I can’t seem to resist an excuse to wear a silly costume. I’ll be attending AC3 in Ottawa this weekend.  I worked so hard on my cosplay for the past two weeks and finished it on Friday officially.  I’m dressing as Kairi, Kingdom Hearts II version.  I really really wanted to wear her pink zipper outfit, because well, a trio of giant zippers was too much fun to resist.  Giant zippers are expensive though, but hoorah for Fabricland employee discounts!  (I really miss working there.)

This is my first cosplay that I’m not doing as a couple with my partner in cosplay crime, Mish.   (Actually, my first cosplay ever, Kuguya from Planet Ladder, wasn’t in a couple at all, but I tend not to count that one since it was so terribly done.)

I don’t have a wig because I couldn’t afford one. My hair’s the right cut, but not the right colour at all. ^^; It’s dyed pitch black right now.  I have to walk around a convention without any glasses either, so I have a feeling I’m going to feel disoriented. I’m sure it’ll be fun in any case.

Tomorrow, my apartment is receiving a kitchen makeover care of the housing corporation who owns the row of townhouses. The cupboards are being removed and we’re getting new ones. It’s exciting but Lea (my roomie) and I have no idea what they are putting in place of our white cupboards with old fashioned wooden handles. I’m going to take photos tonight so that we’ll have before and after shots.

There is so much to do this week before the weekend. I have two essays, a major art project, and an essay proposal due before I leave on my convention ‘vacation’. Both of the essays are technically optional - they have floating deadlines so if I don’t finish them, I have other essay options to choose from later in the semester. I’m thinking of not doing this this week and focusing on the project and proposal. The proposal is a significant percentage of my final mark, so I’m a little worried.
