WordPress Image Uploader Frustrations Continue
I’ve updated Frozen Flower’s theme again! I’ve been struggling with where to place the side bar since this is a one column design. I decided to place it horizontally after the first entry of the blog instead of along the side. I’m going to see if I like this after a few days of staring at it.
I’m still struggling with figuring out a WordPress image uploader issue. I have two wordpress blogs, but version 2.7.1, but only this one won’t allow me to use the flash image uploader without forwarding me to the WordPress login screen. Both blogs are hosted on the same server, just different domains. I actually deleted the admin panel of this installation, downloaded the admin panel of the one that’s working and uploaded it in its place, and it’s still not working. It makes no sense!
But, the weird thing is, the uploader in this installation will work on Internet Explorer. I have no idea what is causing one installation to be comptable with Opera, my default browser, and not the other. My brain! It hurts! So I guess whenever I want to include images in my posts, I’ll have to suffer with Internet Explorer. (*shudder*)
I installed a Windows Vista widget to assist in counting down the days to the last day of school. 36 days and counting! By the end of April, I have to have everything out of the apartment. My dad came up to visit me today for a few hours. Last night I packed up all my belongings that were in the storage closet plus all of my craft supplies (scrapbooking, sewing, painting and drawing supplies: everything). I really like to be creative to unwind, so until May, the only creative things I can do will be web design or maybe some drawing on computer printout paper. And cooking!
My dad came to take the first load of stuff back to my home town, which is about four and a half hours away. We don’t really have much time to get everything home but this was a good start. The hardest part was moving this deep freezer. My roommates and I bought it together a few years ago, dividing the costs, and since then they have all moved out. So, I’m the person who gets to keep it. It will be very useful when I get my own place (one day). It was kind of hilarious trying to get it into my dad’s car; although it’s not really that large or heavy, it’s big and awkward and I’m somewhat useless when it comes to lifting things. After coming up with many failed plans, we eventually got it into the back of the truck without breaking it.
We definitely could have fit more items into the truck but my dad’s not big on tetrising. I am an arrangement queen like my mom, squishing everything compactly into tight spaces and utilizing the space to my best ability. My dad likes to get things done quickly but not necessarily the most efficiently. I still had many packed boxes that we could have fit, but he wanted to get moving so we just left them for now.
My room is an absolute disaster right now from packing last night! My room is also a lot sadder looking. What I miss the most are my plastic bins which I was doubling as a bedside table. I found a cardboard box which I’m using now for my lamp and alarm clock. (Yay, university living!)
I’m excited to be going back home. Although I like my school, this city is much smaller and less diverse than my home town. Plus, my boyfriend is there – being apart is really lonely. That, compounded with the fact that nearly all my friends are in teacher’s college this year and left school to do placements around the province, makes the days feel long and sad sometimes. I do have a roommate who I’m living with, and while we get along, we’re not the closest of friends and it’s sometimes awkward.
What I will definitely miss is my own little apartment! My apartment for the last two years has been in what is called the student ghetto. They’re the cheapest units around town, but the landlords have been really great about improving the area. (We just got a new bathroom vanity a few months ago, and last year, they put in brand new kitchen cupboards on all the units.)
The main living area looks very much like a student’s apartment, but I had a lot of fun making my bedroom feel like home. I had painted my walls green and blue, painted a dresser black, and used black shelves and black bedding to contrast with the bright colours of the walls. I actually feel like this room is more “me” than my bedroom in my parents’ house. Here are some pictures, though normally my room isn’t this tidy (clearly staged photos, hehe):
But overall, I just want to come home! 6 novels and 5 assignments until freedom. 36 days!

36 days and back home! :) That’s really nice. I’ve got a lot of things to say to you. You write really good, you know, as if I’m reading a story. I mean the way you explain. Clearly staged photographs.. =) If you room is actually that tidy, it’s incredible, and completely opposite from mine. lol I like the way you gave your room such a personal touch. You are so talented; you could even be an interior designer! No seriously, it’s not easy to make it all that perfect for oneself. I see you have an incredible amount of books, and they lie so nicely above each other. I have around 11 or 12 in my bedroom, others are in an almira. But just with these I tend to make my room look messy, sometimes I sleep with them! It must look sadder when your belongings aren’t there, feels sort of missing something. Thank God your computer was safe – heat gave sparks to it.. must be a bit scary.
As far as your wordpress problem is concerned, I’m sorry I’m of no help there. I don’t know how to use wordpress. Actually whenever I use FTP, my site stops me from even getting in, because some virus goes into my site. So I can’t upload all wordpress files on my site, and I’m a complete newbie at PHP.
Same server should not have restricted, it’s weird – definitely. Everyone hates Internet Explorer, and I love it even with all the viruses. lol Actually my friend Raven recently advised me to use AVG anti virus and since then my computer works fine as it even tells me which site has a virus and it blocks it.
I hope your wordpress problem solves soon.
Oh I also saw your works- transfiguration, the thread, exchange. I must say you are really creative. What I love about you is that you are so original in style. And you are really creative as well.
Living away from family and your boyfriend is ofcourse hard. But only 36 more days. And I’m sure you will have your own house one day. I wish you all the best for everything! :)

Winnie, your comments are the best! *hearts!*
I actually used to use Internet Explorer all the time, even when Firefox was being pushed as the best browser ever. I had tried Firefox and I liked it, but I was in such a habit of using Internet Explorer that I always went to the IE icon, hehe. I tried out Opera because I heard it was a browser that I should also be testing my designs in, and I got addicted, and addicted fast. I prefer Opera’s browser tabs to Firefox’s. I used Internet Explorer consistently until their tabbed version came out. Somehow I find that the program loads weird, in chunks, and it drives me crazy. I often have a link copy and pasted from somewhere, and I’d paste it into Internet Explorer before it had apparently fully loaded and the program would error message me to death, haha. This problem happened to me so consistently that I left IE behind. :(
It’s really sad about those viruses! So is it just a virus on your computer, or is your hosting infected too? In either case, it must be hard to deal with that!
And thank you for the compliments on my projects! I seem to be all over the place making all sorts of different types of stuff. I just can’t seem to keep my mind on one thing!

That’s a bit like my story with Internet Explorer. I loved Internet Explorer, but in between started using firefox, and new tab system annoyed me. But then I found a solution for it luckily. :) It has something to do with options. Now every window opens in a new window, and not tabs for me. Internet Options- Change how webpage is displayed- just uncheck tabbed browsing. That should do the trick. I’m not sure where virus comes from in my site. I used three different FTP programs(cuteftp, fireftp, and ws_ftp free) but each time my site got locked. So I have no idea about FTP anymore, I’m afraid if I again try, some virus might enter my site. My computer is virus free though. And my domain is hosted with Yahoo. So it’s I thought a reliable service. But I don’t know. When I even open the database thing, some text files named robots enter my filemanager which I then delete. Maybe it is problem with the server only. And you’d think Yahoo will be reliable.
Oh I’m glad you like my comments, I love your comments too. I don’t like to just say something like that, but mean what I say. And I feel you do the same. :) As far as my comments on your work are concerned, you deserve all the appreciation. And I’m pretty sure that whoever reads your work will feel admiration for your work as well. :)

36 days will go by fast!
I actually miss my old roommates and dorm/apartment life. I’ve lived on campus all 4 years and with the same 2 people. We had our fun times and our bad times, but it’s an overall good college experience. I hate the whole moving out and moving in every year. It sucks because I’m afraid of stairs and so my last year I lived on the 3rd floor and it scares me to go down the stairs everytime. Then when it came to moving my stuff down, man, it was horrible. I paid my boyfriend’s brother to do all the moving.
Good luck!

I definitely miss my roommates from my first three years. ^_^ Six girls total lived in my first year apartment, and the next two years after that there were the same people, just different combinations each year in smaller groups. It was so nice. Every one is in a different program than me, so they all finished half a semester before me. I loved the university lifestyle until this last semester,
Eep, third floor! That would be scary! Hoorah for paying others to deal with the trecherous conditions – I’d do the same thing, hehehehe. I hope there was an elevator option to get up and down the floors on a daily basis! :O
